Richard Martin Lloyd Walters known more popularly as Slick Rick is an English-American rapper and record producer. He gained fame with the Doug E. Fresh & the Get Fresh Crew in the mid 1980s with the songs The Show" and "La Di Da Di". in 1986, he became the third artist signed with Def Jam Records and he has released four albums. His music has been sampled and interpolated over a thousand times by artists including, Eminem, Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, the Beastie Boys, TLC, Nas, Miley Cyrus, Kanye West, Black Star, The Notorious B.I.G., Snoop Dogg, MC Ren, Montell Jordan and Color Me Badd.

Richard Walers was born in Southwest London in January 1965. He was blinded when he was an infant by a piece of broken glass. In 1976, his family moved from London to the Bronx in America. This is why he wears an eye patch. He was only 18 months old when his eye was damaged by the glass piece from a broken window. Before he wore the eyepatch, he used to wear dark sunglasses to conceal the eye.
