After competing in the 10-meter platform, individual and synchronized events at the 2015 Pan American Games and the 205 World Aquatic Swimming Championships, this Brazilian diver, Ingrid Oliveira, has become a name to be reckoned with.
At the Pan American Games, she won silver in the synchronized event and qualified in both events for the Rio 2016 Olympics. Here are acts you never knew about the Brazilian.
Who is Ingrid Oliveira?
She was born Ingrid de Oliveira on the 7th day of May 1996 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She is the younger of two daughters born to her parents – Dona Nice and Oscar Pereira. His older sister is called Erica Oliveira.
She grew up in Vista Alegre, a neighborhood in the northern zone of Rio de Janeiro. Unfortunately, his mother died of kidney disease.
Oliveira began his sports career at Fluminense as a gymnast, before becoming a diver. She was very good at diving and was called up to join the Brazilian national diving team at an early age. She trained with the team in China and Colombia and in 2014 she participated in the Summer Youth Olympics held in Nanjing, China. Oliveira did not medal at the tournament, but she remained determined and competed in several other international tournaments, including the FINA Grand Prix in diving.
Ingrid de Oliveira rose to popularity in 2015 when she competed in the 10-meter platform, individual and synchronized events at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto and the 2015 World Swimming Championships in Kazan, Russia. Her performance at these competitions earned her a ticket to the Rio 2016 Olympics. Unfortunately, she did not live up to expectations at the Olympics.
Sex scandal at the Rio Olympics
At the Rio 2016 Olympics, the Brazilian synchronized diver was involved in a sex scandal that made headlines. Ingrid Oliveira reportedly threw her teammate/roommate Giovanna Pedroso from their bedroom in the Olympic Village to have what local media called marathon sex with fellow Brazilian Olympian and canoeist Pedro Goncalves the night before their Olympic performance.
At the game, t The following day, the pair finished last in the women’s 10m synchronized platform dive – a performance that local media described as “pathetic”.
Although the Pan American Games medalist and her teammate have had issues before, what happened the night before their Olympic performance was just the straw.
Ingrid Oliveira reportedly brought Goncalves Back to the apartment she shared with Pedroso in the Olympic Village that evening, she asked if she and her partner (Pedro Goncalves) could share their bedroom.
After what was described as a heated argument, Pedroso consented and went to sleep in another room, but she later reported Oliveira’s secret to Brazilian team officials.
Pedroso was furious with Oliveira for kicking her out of their room and for losing concentration just hours before their competition time. She swore never to synchronize her diving with Ingrid Oliveira again and that after the Olympics she would focus on her own [diving] and not be dependent on anyone. And she lived up to her words, after the Olympics the duo announced their separation.
Pedro Goncalves’ response to the overall issues, when asked was ‘it’s his personal life, he doesn’t talk about it’. And for Oliveira, she responded on her Instagram page and wrote, “Mistakes, everyone makes mistakes, no one is perfect but God.”
She, however, said most of the reports about the row were ‘pure sensationalism’, adding that she was forbidden to speak about what happened, she then thanked her supporters for their support during her difficult time.

Ingrid Oliveira and Giovanna Pedroso had been a team together since 2015. In 2005, they won a bronze medal at a synchronized competition held in the city of León in central Mexico. Later that year, they finished second in the women’s synchronized platform final to win the silver medal.
The beautiful Brazilian diver also won a gold medal with fellow Brazilian diver Luiz Felipe Outerelo Gold at a Grand Prix in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
She stands at a height of 1.6 meters and weighs 58 kg.
